The Lake George Regional Chamber of Commerce & CVB, Inc. strives to drive tourism to the Lake George region year-round while fostering a vibrant business community. The Chamber seeks to promote growth and development of its member businesses by offering networking events, educational programs, ribbon cuttings and other opportunities. Founded in 1952, the Chamber is a member-driven, not-for-profit 501 C (6) corporation. The Chamber, with a regional mindset, comprises more than 400 members in various sectors of the business community. The Chamber staffs the Visitor Center on the corner of Beach Road and Canada Street in the village of Lake George and the Adirondacks Welcome Center on the Northway between Exits 17 and 18 and typically serves more than 100,000 visitors annually. The Chamber also publishes an annual Travel Guide with a 70,000 circulation and a Community & Business Directory geared toward people and businesses looking to move to the area. Job Description
Receptionist/Office Assistant:
• Greet and assist walk-in visitors to ensure their needs are met.
• Answer the phone, direct calls to office personnel, and assist with inquiries.
• Tracking and data entry of all incoming calls/email/website inquiries for information while tracking Travel Guide and specific information requests.
• Tracking and distribution of individual and bulk Travel Guides and specific information requests.
• Offering administrative support across the organization.
• Mailings: daily/weekly inquiries label and postage.
• Compile custom information packets for visitor inquiries.
• Marketing Assistance to include:
o Website updates: Event information, FAQ page updates, business listings, last-minute lodging information
o Social Media assistance: postings on Facebook, Instagram, Twitter, and LinkedIn
o Assist in handling media/photos at ribbon cuttings, mixers, and other events.
Chamber Membership:
• Membership outreach follow-up via phone/email as necessary: renewals, advertising, monthly Board of Directors meetings, and mixers, among other follow-ups.
• Manage member brochure inventory, office placement, and Village Information Center needs.
• Assist the Membership Manager with membership material inventory and mailings.
• Maintain Chamber/membership files: information, clippings, advertising, news, and more.
• Assist with Membership Mixers.
Village Information Center Management:
• Creating monthly schedules and working with staff to ensure coverage.
• Refilling brochures and other materials as needed
• Reaching out to partner businesses promoted at the VIC for information: Warren County municipalities and historical sites
• Reporting to the Village of Lake George on building maintenance and operation needs.
• Answering phone calls and emails on weekends when needed
• Cover at the Village Information Center if necessary.
Student Connection Committee
• Act as the main contact for students in search of housing/secondary employment opportunities.
• Attend meetings with Village leadership.
• Contribute to the planning of meet and greet and other occasions for the J1 International Exchange Students.
Travel Shows
• Data entry and partner distribution of all travel show lead information.
• Assist Membership Manager with Travel Show logistics
Qualifications:
• High school diploma or GED required
• Proven work experience as a Receptionist, Front Office Staff, or similar role; additional certification in Office Management is a plus.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite.
• Effective communication skills, demonstrating strong customer service
• Ability to be resourceful and proactive when issues arise.
• Excellent organizational and time-management skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, and multitask effectively.
• Execute all administrative tasks to the highest quality standards.
• Hands-on experience using office equipment (e.g. copier, printers, postage machine).
• Ability to work in a professional office setting on a regular basis, performing routine physical activities, such as lifting, bending, sitting for long periods, reading, and writing.
• Ability to attend off-site meetings, representing the Chamber in a positive and professional manner.
The salary range is $16.00 - $21.00 per hour. Our comprehensive benefits package includes PTO, health and dental insurance, and paid holidays.
